I'd be very interested in your take on urbanization, especially in the context of places like Japan, where there's not enough people in rural settings even to maintain them. I guess my question is what happens when populations start to decline in the developing world? And how will we cope with that? Thank you, digital anthropologist.

Thanks Michael. I think Africa is the next part of the world that will see urban/rural rises. They've tended to leapfrog the Global North (WEIRD) countries, taking their technologies and advancing. M-Pesa came out of Kenya. Their decline of population will happen as they grow middle class economies. I think they'll actually lead urban innovations by necessity. It will be an interesting collaboration between the Global North and the Global South. It will be less about coping and more about collaborating. Africa will shine.
